What Is Whipped Coffee
Whipped coffee (Dalgona coffee) has gone viral recently, also known as TikTok coffee.
Whipped coffee is popular in many cultures. It’s called Dalgona coffee in Korea, Frappe coffee in Greece and Phitti Hui in Pakistan.
Are you ready to create the ultimate 12-month blueprint for reaching your health & weight loss goals this coming year?
Our free on-demand video training will walk you through how to make 2024 THE year you set health goals…and keep them.
But it became famous on TikTok recently as everyone was stuck at home and their local coffee shop was shut. This is the perfect cheap coffee to make at home.
Which Sweetener Do You Need?
Usually, table sugar, raw sugar and brown sugar are used to make whipped TikTok coffee, but did you know you can make it sugar-free using erythritol or monk fruit?
When you add the boiling water to the instant coffee, ensure you mix until the sweetener is dissolved. If you don’t want to add any sweetener, the whipped Dalgona coffee will still work, but the whipped coffee will not firm stiff peaks as it does with erythritol.
Which Whisk Do I Need?
I used a hand whisk which is great for building your arm muscles but you can make life easier for yourself by using a stick blender with a whisk attachment or even a simple milk frother.
It took me approximately 15 minutes to use the hand whisk. Using the stick blender, it only took 5 minutes. Ye ha.
Hot Or Cold Milk?
The preferred way to serve whipped keto coffee is over ice with cold milk, but if you prefer hot milk, serve in a smaller espresso cup, then serve the whipped TikTok coffee on top.
Just be aware the whipped coffee will be cold (or at best, warm) by the time you’ve whipped it.
TOP TIP: As with ALL recipes here, ALWAYS taste your batter BEFORE cooking to ensure you have added enough sweetener to suit YOUR tastebuds. Read the Ultimate Guide To Low-Carb Sweeteners.
How To Make Homemade Keto Whipped TikTok Coffee
It’s embarrassingly simple, only 3 ingredients BUT it takes a long time.
Coffee, sweetener, and milk of choice. Place a few ice cubes (I don’t count those) in your glass, top with whipped coffee and you’re the next whipped coffee master!
Serve with a walnut coffee bar for the perfect morning tea – keto style!
Why Are There Carbs In Coffee?
While coffee in itself does not have a negative or positive impact on a keto diet, it’s the high volume of milk added to the coffee shop favourites such as lattes, cappuccinos and flat whites that can potentially compromise progress towards attaining and maintaining the desired state of ketosis.
