I can think of many people that would love this recipe, even though I’ve never been much of an eggnog fam myself. I love the way it looks in the photo too – you’ve picked the perfect cup for the drink.

  2. Hi Libby, Have you tried this cold? Just wondered if it would work. 🙂

    1. 5 stars
This creamy keto eggnog recipe tastes amazing chilled. Allow it to cool after cooking, then pour over ice in a tall glass. Decorate with whipped cream and sprinkle some grated nutmeg on top.

    2. I was wondering the same thing. Did you try it cold?

    3. 5 stars
This recipe served cold is amazing! I ONLY drink cold eggnog so I made this the night before, refrigerated it and served it the following day. EXTREMELY yummy!!!

  3. 5 stars
I have 1 to 2 raw eggs a day…tons of people ingest raw eggs.

  4. Looks and sounds delicious! One thing: butter, especially when submerged in cold heavy cream, will not melt in 3-5 minutes” over low heat. More like a half-hour. Plus, you need time for the eggs to heat up gently and do their magical thing. I’ll give this a try though! Thank you.

I made Walnut Brandy truffles for a potluck and they were wonderful. Thank you for a candy treat that is keto. Regards, Marrla

    Hi there, and Merry Christmas!
Most LC recipes for egg nog serve 6-8, and I just needed one little old serving. So, I opted to reduce your recipe in half. As a commentor said above, cold butter in a nonheated pan will take about 15 minutes, alongside the egg, (if you wish to cook the egg, of course).
The result was very nice, and very close to non, LC egg nog. I will for sure make this again!!

  7. Do you think that you could use coconut milk instead of almond milk?

  8. Geraldine says:

The egg nog is wonderful.I just had some for a decadent lunch, and it is creamy, rich, delicious and satisfying. The recipe worked perfectly and took only a few minutes to make. This will be a regular for me I think!

tired this as written. It is very good. Next time I’ll tweek it a bit by using half the butter, no cinnamon and upping the vanilla and nutmeg a bit to make it more like my old “high carb” homemade eggnog recipe.

I just made your delicious eggnog Recipe! My husband and I both loved it!
Thank you so much for sharing! ??
    Happy New Year! ??

Fantastic recipe. I’m relatively new to low carb by way of life, but was dreading the holidays treats gauntlet, but you have given me hope. Thank you! Any idea on how long it will keep in the fridge? We are entertaining and would like to keep some on hand.

    1. I’m so glad you found us and have been with Virta, they really are amazing. As for this recipe, I would make it and enjoy it within 24-48 hours. I like it fresh, especially for guests.

The butter took less than 10 minutes to melt. I made a conscious effort to push it against the bottom of the pan while I stirred so that it’d melt sooner. I also stirred until the eggs no longer stuck to the whisk. One sip and .. mm-mm-good!! I’ll probably reduce the butter, too. I never thought I’d drink warm nog but it was fantastic! I’ll make a second batch and put it in the fridge to see how it tastes. Thank you for a great recipe!

This has to be my all time favorite recipes for fall. And I love the fact that it is one of the only eggnog recipes I can find without raw eggs,. Hallelujah! I can safely serve this to friends and family.

  14. 5 stars
I just made this and mine never thickened. I made the 2x recipe and heated it slowly. It was at 168ºF when I took it off the heat. Will it thicken as it cools or did I do something wrong?😬

    1. 5 stars
It should thicken as it cooks and as it cools. Did you use fresh eggs or long life eggs?

      1. 5 stars
I used pasture raised Omega 3 eggs. I got them last week so they should be fresh…

  15. 5 stars
I thought the title said no raw eggs???????????

    1. 5 stars
Yes, the final drink does not contain raw eggs as many eggnog recipes do. They are cooked. “Cook for 3-5 minutes on gentle low medium heat. Do not allow it to boil. The mixture will slowly thicken as the eggs gently cook.”

  16. 5 stars
Thank you for this great recipe.
I love that it is heated so the egg is not raw.
I do add the brandy to mine.
Looking forward to having it over ice tonight!
    Cheers!
